bunadspledd

bunad blankets designed by andreas engesvik

bunad blankets is a series of blankets launched during the london design festival, september 2012. the first bunad blankets that will be shown are based on bunad motifs from five different regions in norway: setesdal, nordland, fusa, bringeklut from west telemark & mens bunad from sunnmøre.

the blankets are developed in cooperation with mandal veveri & are woven from pure wool in mandal. mandal veveri is a nearly 100 year old textile company & is the leading producer of textiles for bunads in norway today.

the bunad is a range of traditional norwegian rural clothes & folk costumes with its roots dating from the 18th & 19th centuries. in norway, it is common to wear bunad at various celebrations such as folk dances, weddings & especially the may 17 national day celebrations.

ECOoler

ECOoler connects via water hose nozzles to naturally cool by evaporating water. designers mey kahn & boaz kahn used 2 middle eastern references for this project: the mashrabiya, an architectural element that acts as a mediator between the inside & outside & the jara, a clay jar that holds cooling water that evaporates naturally to cool the environment.

genius idea

although this is just a concept it is a fucking genius idea! the g.p. stamp is a small stamp-sized electronic chip with a built-in battery that keeps track of your shipments. all critical information is sent wirelessly in real time. the slim stamp uses advanced printed electronics - it has a layer of flexible 0.2 millimetre thick gps circuit board on one side and the other is a flexible 0.4 millimetre thick battery cell. you can get larger stamps with more batter life for longer shipment transits. designed by ho-tzu cheng.
