these 500 and 1,000 liter mechanical kegs dispense wine into any resealable container the shopper brings with them (or you can buy one in the store). created by astrid terzian, the concept hearkens back to a bygone era when wine would arrive in paris shops in tonneaux and consumers would bring in their flagons to fill. by getting rid of the packaging, the wine can be shipped much cheaper and the savings are passed on to the consumer. apparently the wine tastes pretty good too. self-serve wine tanks could be hitting american stores within a year.
