teddy boys

i think these are from awhile ago....i found them while scouring around a continuous lean. they are a series of photographs from photographer ben watts (& available at photographers limited editions) of teddy boys taken in 2004. teddy is an acronym for "the edwardian drape society", an english youth subculture that emerged after wwII. 40 years later and they still have style. love.

eva is a czech living in england who makes smocked jewelry inspired by historic textiles. they are made entirely by hand using repurposed silk and her own natural dyes. the results are subtle and the colours are stunning. i love the way she takes her inspiration from nature and then uses natural techniques to achieve her designs.

her line is called tinctory (tinctor means "dyer" in latin) and can be seen and purchased here and here.

i want to be a roitfeld is reporting that carine's partner, christian (sisely) restoin, is reviving his clothing line "equipment" for a spring/summer 2010 release. they actually met when she used some shirts from the line in a photo shoot. restoin chose to close the company in 2001 when carine became editor-in-chief of vogue paris so he could support her in her new role. the green shirt above is believed to be from the equipment line.
