louis vuitton announced that nicolas ghesquière has been named women's design director replacing marc jacobs.  "i am so happy. it is an excitement. a feeling that what i lived before was preparing me to do this," said ghesquière.  read more at the nytimes.

the internet is going nuts today congratulating nicolas ghesquière on being named creative director of louis vuitton, including tweets from nina garcia, dazed & confused & eva chen.  but, as of right now,  lvmh is officially denying his appointment.  time will tell.....

it's official - marc jacobs to leave louis vuitton

marc jacobs announced that he is stepping down as creative director of louis vuitton after 16 years.
rumours are that he will be succeeded by nicolas ghesquière.  this will allow jacobs & his partner robert duffy to focus on his own label & the potential of a public IPO.

louis vuitton has added a new artsy collection of travel books. the concept is to examine different cultures through the eyes of artists who are unfamiliar with them. the house tapped congolese artist chéri samba to show paris; the american daniel arsham for easter island; the frenchman jean-philippe delhomme for new york; and the young japanese illustrator natsko seki for london.
