ty hedfan

ty hedfan (hovering house) by featherstone young. brecon beacons, wales.
the house is perched above a river in a small village at the top of a valley, five miles from brecon & the brecon beacons national park.  the site slopes down to the confluence of two rivers, ysgir fach & ysgir fawr that run across the length of the property.
the house totals 2,400 sqft and is split into two wings:
the main house wing has a cantilevered living room & double height kitchen & dining spaces that open onto an elevated courtyard overlooking the garden, river & countryside.
the second wing is perpendicular to the first & partially buried into the sloping ground.the sloping green sedum roof appears to be an extension of the garden.
