banned in the u.k.
yves saint laurent's ad for belle d'opium, starring french actress melanie thierry has been banned in the u.k. thierry dances wildly, points to her inner elbow & runs her finger along the inside of her forearm saying "i am your addiction, i am belle d'opium. the new fragrance by yves saint laurent." the advertising standards authority (asa) stated that the ad was irresponsible and offensive because thierry simulates drug use. the choreographer, akram khan said he aimed to create an ad "inspired by the concept of the removal of excessive movement, focusing on the most simple and profound things."
