sag awards - 2012

emma stone in custom alexander mcqueen
she was really the only standout for me.

tilda swinton in lanvin
beautiful. a bit boring but beautiful.

zoe saldana in givenchy haute couture
my friend thinks she looks like christmas but i really liked this.

judy greer in valentino
if i was dressing someone for the red carpet i would definitely try to get them in valentino - there are always a few knock out red carpet pieces.

angelina jolie in jenny packham
okay, i don't love, love this....but i LOVE, LOVE her!

natalie portman in giambattista valli
yes, boring but at least she looks pretty - compared to the majority of those who walked the red carpet i thought this was o.k.

diana agron in carolina herrera
i worked with her once & i have to tell you, in person, BEYOND GORGEOUS (and really sweet).

sofia vergara in marchesa
predictable & not my style but she always works it.

diane lane (in david meister) & husband josh brolin
what a beautiful couple. they could both wear garbage bags on the red carpet & still look better than most!

emily blunt (in oscar de la renta) & husband john krasinski
another beautiful couple.

overall i was pretty bored by the red carpet. at least these guys looked like, well, themselves. i'm so tired of actresses wearing something that doesn't suit them or their personalities. i would rather see a train wreck (helena bonham carter, paz de la heurta) being themselves & owning it rather than some cheeseball t.v. actress wearing versace (badly).

natalie portman in dior

diane lane in reem acra

kate winslet in jenny packham

helen mirren in badgley mischka
because she can never, ever do wrong in my book.

well .... i am choosing to skip the worst dressed for this event because there were just so many badly dressed women there. from horribly fitting dresses to hideous mermaid dresses to skin colored monstrosities. ugh.  shockingly bad.

biggest disappointment of the night:

michelle williams in valentino

this is my biggest criticism of the night - everyone fell into 3 categories:
1. part of the wedding party.
2. that girl. the one who is all boobs and sheer panels.
3. so boring....nude & peach & all those shades....not that great on the red carpet.

it's kinda sad that all these young girls stuff themselves into these gowns that, although they may be beautiful, are just so inappropriate and say absolutely NOTHING about them. most of their dresses looked like something an older woman would wear. for instance, i thought catherine zeta jones looked lovely and appropriate. whether you love or hate my choices at least they are all true to themselves. i mean, i didn't love julianne moore's dress but it's so her and she looks smashing in it & the color is just so brilliant. and helena bonham carter, bless her, doesn't deviate from what she likes no matter what anybody says. i love that... and LE SIGH i love that tilda wore the jil sanders!  i'm sure it will be panned by those horrible fashion police shows but she looked flawless and you know what? she looked like someone you would want to sit next to at dinner and have a nice chat-up!  i'd rather someone wear a dress or look i didn't love but was true to their own style.  everyone just looked so bland and overdone.
my biggest disappointment was michelle williams because i usually love what she wears. i just think the fit of the dress ON TOP of the look of the dress just isn't doing her any favors.

angelina jolie as patrizia reggiani?

The Oscar-winning actor is in talks to play Patrizia Reggiani, the woman jailed for ordering the 1995 killing of her ex-husband, fashion magnate Maurizio Gucci.
Jolie would be working with director Ridley Scott who has been planning the project since 2007. Scott has approached Leonardo DiCaprio to play Gucci, though the actor is not yet attached.
Reggiani was jailed for 29 years in 1999 for her part in the killing of her ex-husband, although she has always maintained that she involved against her will. "I have been naive to the point of stupidity," she said before being sentenced. Her story was that her personal psychic, Pina Auriemma, had first made contact with the killers and then blackmailed her into going along with the plot. Auriemma was sentenced to 25 years.
The Gucci name has often been synonymous with fiery behaviour alongside enormous wealth. In one infamous incident during the early 80s, a family member is said to have been knocked unconscious with an answering machine during a boardroom spat. Maurizio's cousin, Paolo Gucci, reported his own father, Aldo, then head of the company, for tax evasion. The latter was sentenced to a year and a day behind bars in Florida in 1986 for conspiring to evade more than $7.4 million in U.S. income taxes. The fortunes of the fashion house were on the verge of a glorious revival under designer Tom Ford when Maurizio was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment.
