yohji yamamoto & saskia de brauw photographed by paolo roversi & styled by karl templer for interview, may 2013.
yohji will always & forever be one of my favorite designers. i had love affairs with coco & karl & even versace but it wasn't until i moved to california that i discovered the japanese. they were blazing onto the scene with a vengeance & i was right there in the middle of it in fashion school. i still have my yohji "penguin" skirt from the 80s - it's ankle length & has a little tail in the back that sort of hobbles your ability to walk so you can only take little shuffling steps. it's beyond amazing & so is he.
