fan ho

 fan ho was born in shanghai, china in 1932 but moved to hong kong with his family at a very early age. using a rolleiflex camera his father gave him, he roamed the streets & alleyways of hongkong, drawn to the city & its light-filled stairwells.  inspired by bauhaus, with a strong sense of abstraction, ho's hong kong is a magical city of light & dark, shadow & substance, crowds & isolation.  along with chronicling hong kong in the 50s & 60s, ho is also an acclaimed & accomplished film director & actor.
