natalia vodianova hosted the white fairy tale love ball last night at valentino garavani's chateau de wideville estate on the outskirts of paris. the ball closed out the fall 2011 couture season & raised money for her naked heart foundation which builds playgrounds in russia. she managed to raise $3.3 million from the night which included a fashion show featuring 45 custom dresses created by designers that included olivier theyskens, alexander wang & stella mccartney, among others. the dress code for the night called for white or silver but vodianova wore a scarlet red valentino dress inspired by little red riding hood created for her by valentino himself - the first dress he has made since retiring in 2008. "i always wear red to my events," said vodianova to explain her choice.
liberty vintage motorcycles - portrait of a generation
adam cramer of liberty vintage motorcycles in philadelphia, pennsylvania revives vintage motorcycles & the american tradition of grease stained self reliance. he speaks passionately & seriously about the scarcity of a generation that does not know how to utilize their hands & manufacture anything. he feels the biggest problem we face in the u.s. is not the recession or financial breakdowns, but the de-industrialization of america. taking away the pride of building & producing something is fracturing our spirit. to devote your life to a craft & spend a lifetime honing that skill was something commendable; it is now a dying pursuit.
