r.i.p. françois lesage
françois lesage, the heir of the maison lesage embroidery atelier, died today at the age of 82. the house issued a statement saying lesage died "after a long battle against his illness."
founded by his father, masioin lesage worked with designers that include vionnet & else schiaparelli & under francois the house has worked with dior, givenchy, balenciaga & christian lacroix. they were acquired by chanel in 2002.
lesage once said that he "never had any doubt as to what i was to do in life, given i was born into a pile of beads and sequins." he was a debonaire gentleman who dressed impeccably & was a frequent front-row guest at the fashion houses he worked for. he was also an accomplished equestrian who was made a chevalier, or knight, in france's prestigious legion d'honneur honor society.
maison lesage will continue under newly appointed artistic director hubert barrère.
