anton räderscheidt (11 october, 1892 - 8 march, 1970) was a german painter who was the leading figure of the new objectivity.  in 1919 he cofounded stupid along with other members of the constructivist & dada movements, although the group was short lived when he abandoned constructivism in 1920 to pursue magic realism. many of his works from the 1920s were seized and destroyed by the nazis as degenerate art or destroyed by allied bombings.  the works  usually depicted an isolated couple that resemble räderscheidt and his wife, painter martha hegemann.  he continued to paint throughout his life even after a stroke in 1967 at which time he had to relearn how to paint. he died in cologne in 1970.
