seance privee

natalia vodianova by hedi slimane.

gypsies, tramps & thieves

you know i never give her credit for being such a huge influence on my style.....mostly it was patti smith and ava gardner but i'm reminded tonight of just how much i loved her as a kid.

day tripper

the itama fifty from ferrretti subsidiary itama.
this 50 footer is considered a day crusier but can accommodate up to 6 people in 3 cabins (you can host up to 12). it reaches speeds of up to 35 knots thanks to a twin MAN 800 mhp engine. that last sentence meant nothing to me.....but this one does: you can customize the interior....now we're talking!

catwalk cats

"the catwalk cats" from legendary vogue editor grace coddington & her partner didier malige is on it's seventh printing and last night grace signed copies at soho's clic bookstore and gallery to benefit the animal rescue fund. the book is an irreverent take on fashion as told by their furry pals henri, coco, baby, puff and bart.

finally.....word from wwd is that madonna is out as the face of louis vuitton. she is being replaced by the gorgeous lara stone for spring/summer 2010. the campaign will be shot by steven meisel in nyc. models should model and singers should sing and actresses should do whatever it is they do....and enough with the bad celebrity vogue covers.

dream weaver

this textile from the silk of more than a million wild spiders is on display at the american museum of natural history in new york city.
to produce this cloth, 70 people spent 4 years collecting golden orb spiders from telephone poles in madagascar, while another dozen workers carefully extracted about 80 feet of silk filament from each of the spiders. the resulting 11 X 4 foot textile is the only large piece of cloth made from natural spider silk existing in the world today.
anyone who knows me knows how much i love spiders....especially the golden orbs. they are gorgeous!

rome

to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the aperture foundation is releasing an updated two-volume edition of william klein's "rome" in november.
in 1956 he went to rome to work on fellini's "nights of cabria" but the shoot was postponed. klein stayed and photographed the city and the people of rome.
