over the river

christo & jeanne-claude have acquired approval from the bureau of land management to contstruct their newest project "over the river", which will stretch along 5.9 miles of the arkansas river in southern colorado. the project will include fabric panels distributed in sections along the 42 mile stretch of the arkansas river.  steel wire cables, anchored on the upper part of the riverbanks, will cross the river & serve as attachment for the fabric panels. the woven fabric panels will create shimmering waves of fabric 8 to 25 feet above the water.  read more here.
